SleepyIRC's Services

SleepyIRC offers a variety of services to users, all but two can (sort of) be disabled to users, to customize their little parts of the network to what they prefer.

SleepyIRC's NickServ is the authentication for all services on the network. Though StatServ does not tie directly into NickServ, it still looks for identified users before being able to fully use the service. For more information on NickServ, on IRC type /msg NickServ HELP for a commands list.

SleepyIRC's ChanServ is the channel service for the network. It allows you to own up to ten channels in a more controlled environment. It can optionally maintain topics, give special users Op status, automatically kicking unwanted users, lock modes, and many more features. For a full commands list, on IRC type /msg ChanServ HELP.

SleepyIRC also offers BotServ - a bot service which is an extention to ChanServ. A BotServ bot can be assigned with /msg BotServ ASSIGN botname. This allows you use "fantasy" commands, which causes the bot to react to your requests. For example, an unwanted user joins the channel - you can type !k Lamer I don't want you here to remove the user, instead of typing out the full IRC Kick command - /kick #channel Lamer I don't want you here. Much easier, eh? Though ChanServ can do this itself in the same manner as a BotServ bot, some people may prefer a bot called "Unknown" in their channel instead of "ChanServ". It's all up to the preference of the channel owner. BotServ can be further explored with the IRC command: /msg BotServ HELP.

SleepyIRC also hosts the semi-standard MemoServ bot, which allows you to send messages to registered users which are not online at the time. This can be achieved through /msg MemoServ SEND user message. For more information on MemoServ's usage, on IRC type /msg MemoServ HELP.

SleepyIRC allows users to pick their own hostname with a service called HostServ. After picking a desired vHost, use the command /msg HostServ REQUEST desired@host to send the host in for staff evaluation. If deamed acceptable by the staff, the vHost will be accepted and you will receive a memo from MemoServ about your request. Acceptable vHost guidelines are to be announced. For more help with HostServ, type /msg HostServ HELP on SleepyIRC.

The staff at SleepyIRC thought a channel statistic service would be enjoyable to the users. The StatServ service does specifically that - it records a persons count in activities and logs them to a database. StatServ does not log users actual text; however. it does log how much of it. StatServ does not have any commands available to normal users. StatServ does, however, respond to fantasy commands, like BotServ. For help with StatServ, type !help in a channel with the StatServ bot. Stats are available at stats.sleepyirc.net/.

All services are supported in #Help on our network. Feel free to join and ask any question about anything SleepyIRC. Other topics are of course welcomed, however users are more likely to be unable to help. Don't mind the emptyness - it's set up that way! :)
