NixtrixIRC was set up in April 2009 using UnrealIRCd and Anope services, and was then known as NixtrixStudios. NixtrixIRC came into existence after a ex-administrator left another network to seek out a fresh challenge. It was initially a private "friends only" network, but more people showed up so the network was then released to the public. A few months after creation the network was renamed to NixtrixIRC.net.
