AustNet is a medium sized IRC network with servers in Australia (of course!), the United States, and Singapore.

AustNet run original services with an emphasis on stability and user friendliness. To find out more about these services, click the "Network services" link to the left or visit the austnet.org website.

AustNet servers operate a host masking system to prevent abuse and hinder virus propagation, this will be set to your client automatically on connect (usermode +v).

AustNet operators and helpers are a friendly, ethical, and helpful bunch. Don't let anybody who sabotages other networks or vandalises pages that no longer concern them tell you otherwise! You can find us in #asd (for service related queries) or #help (for general queries).

AustNet recommends these popular channels as a starting point:

#teens
#melbourne
#sydney
#perth

I have also seen other pages of misconduct about these opers all over the internet, eg: http://pastebin.ca/944869 Thanks, but no thanks. This network is just NOT SAFE!

shitface the anti idling bans in #asd are temporary measures only. If, for whatever reason, you didn't get to posting your question within a reasonable time, have it ready for when you rejoin. You seem intent on painting the network in a bad light, I am intent on pointing out there seems to be "far more to it" than what you provide here and that you are deliberately misleading anyone reading the page here to continue your own agenda. As for verifying logs all I can do is verify what you have pasted here appear to be your 'digest' logs and you've modified them where you see fit (i.e, nicks changed, ts/prefixes different, ts/prefix spacing changing magically, people magically typing 10 words in 1 second). There are proper channels to reporting this, and while I appreciate you feel you should be "warning people away", this just isn't one of them. If you think what you have is going to hold under any type of scrutiny (hint, see above), then go about things the right way. ..

cont. Ultimately I am a bit miffed at the steps you have taken to try and 'put dirt' on people - your initial post suggests "avoiding at all costs" but it appears you yourself are not following this advice, quite the opposite. I hope this does not shy anyone else away from posting their experiences with the network here.

Just want to make people aware they need to be careful of some of the chanels on Ausnet. Especially Brisbane, this room is very rude and judgmental and the Op TimeW is unfair in his ruling. It seems it is ok to be sexually harrassing and rude to anyone who comes into the room but do not use colour when chatting. There are people in this chanel who have been chatting for years and now feel they own the room - this means if you are new (like I was) you either need to be as rude as them or talk sexually - as I do neither I was subjected to abuse and Pha4ty even stated that the whole room considered me a moron for not being like them. This was all read by TimeW the Op whos only concern was that I was using purple and blue writing, when I tried to make my case to him personally he stated that this was because on linux the writing in colour cannot be read - this is strange considering I use a linux box to chat in there most of the time and I have not trouble. On the other side Chatzo..
