Submit information about mIRCd

If you are a Network administrator or representative for this network, and wish to have access to directly modify the network information rather than submitting updates through a web form, please read this page.

If you have important information about this network, such as information about the network itself, network services, or the network history, please use the form below to submit the information to SearchIRC for inclusion.

To keep the information you find on SearchIRC consistent, we have set up policies for submitting network information. We may reject, delete, or edit submissions that violate these policies or that we otherwise believe, in our sole discretion, should not be included. We may also reject, delete, or block other sites that we believe to be associated with a user who has violated these policies.

Please take a few moments to read our guidelines so you can understand our policies and the steps to submit information. Failure to understand and follow these instructions generally will result in the rejection of a submission.

Descriptions of networks should tell users about the management, resources, and content of the network concisely and accurately.

  1. Use the network's name and use the third person. For example, "Undernet was founded on..." and "The network wants..." Do not say "I started...", or "We want..."
  2. Use proper punctuation and spell check!
  3. Descriptions should not be promotional in nature. A promotional description rather than an objective, well written description, may be edited or not added at all.
  4. Tell users about the things that makes your network unique or special. Users want to know what sets your network apart from the hundreds of others out there. Does your network have a theme? Do you have specialized services? If your users share interests, or come from one country or speak the same language, mention that too.
  5. Be specific. Don't say "We have lots of great features." Tell users exactly what great features you offer!
  6. Do not use subjective terms such as "we are the best IRC network" or "we have less lag".
  7. Be up-beat. Don't mention negative things unless absolutely necessary. Also make sure not to insult users, ideas, or networks in your statements.
  8. Do not use relative terms such as "The network began four months ago." Give an exact date: "The network began on January 1st, 2003."
  9. Do not submit information that changes frequently. e.g; if you submit your network saying you have 3 servers and 1000 users, as soon as you grow that data is going to be outdated and no longer represent the network.
  10. Remember you can post updates directly below your network's description to tell about new servers, additional services, ask for volunteers, announce special events, etc. Just use the network message board feature to post your comments.
  11. Do not mention other networks unless they are directly related. e.g; don't say "This network has less netsplits than EFnet ". But if your network started from a server that delinked from EFnet, you could mention it.
  12. Do not falsify or exaggerate.
  13. Do not promote your network with invitations and promises of positions on the staff. Such comments will be edited out of your description or cause it not to be used.

Services information:

  • Do not mention the service package name. e.g; anope, ircservices, etc. Describe what services the end user gets. ChanServ, NickServ, etc. Specify details if you have modified services or customized them to meet the special needs of your users.
  • Do not bother mentioning the ircd version or name either. The purpose of the information is to describe your network to the world, versions of software change, and end users aren't going to care if you run CS or hybrid. It's still IRC.

Network history:

The history of IRC in general is mostly unrecorded. SearchIRC is offering ALL networks the opportunity to record their full history. Be sure to include the date the network started, who the founder or founding members were, the first servers to link, the first channels, and then mention any important or noteworthy events through the course of your network's lifetime. We encourage users to post their experience and participation in a network through the network's message board.

If you are dissatisfied with anything in your network's section, please contact SearchIRC by using this form. Be specific. Comments will be reviewed by SearchIRC, who will make the final decision. We take all feedback seriously and give it our thoughtful consideration. But please remember that we try to do our best to promote all IRC networks without showing favoritism. We must exercise our discretion and make many judgment calls to keep SearchIRC as fair and consistent as possible.
