- PRIVATE server this means that if we feel it is needed we may gline, shun, or
- do whatever else we want. Other than that, please enjoy your stay here. We warn

- Introduction
- Before these policies were written, our server had a sort of "What the opers
- say... goes" approach. This was because we really didn't have any strict
- policies, but not because we believed in this policy. If you are an oper then
- you will agree that out oper policies are meant to guide you and not restrict
- you. However, the following policies try to maintain, control and keep order
- within the channel. Provided these policies are stuck to, everyone will have
- fun, whilst knowing that they are in a safe and friendly environment. These
- policies are the standard that we expect from our users. Love us or hate us, but
- do not abuse us. Whilst we will stick to the policies we hereby specify 100% of
- the way, what the opers say is still final. Should you have an issue that
- extends beyond a personal issue with one of the opers, and you think that he/she
- is not acting responsibly, or upholding their duty as a server oper, please
- contact Robert Small, Network Admin. (Contact through SmallR2002@gmail.com) Do
- not confuse channel Ops with server Opers. Should a channel op offend you, or
- make a decision about his channel that you do not like, it is nothing to do with
- the network. Whilst we (the opers) try to control every aspect of the network,
- as the server grows larger and larger, this is becoming a more and more daunting
- task. Please do not hold a grudge against the network should a channel op offend
- you.

- What is V8d?
- V8d is a small organisation built up of private servers of several different
- kind. The IRC server is where anyone can come to chat about life, spill out
- their entire life story, cry, celebrate, or just make some new friends. One
- thing you can guarantee on when online on the V8d server, is the community
- spirit, and the feeling of being right at home. Project V8d is an attempt to
- create MOTD and rule files that can be used as templates for any network.
- Project V8d also aims to create a common interface bot for IRC services. The bot
- that is under construction on our server, commonly known as USIP or U1, was
- originally aimed to take the X2/X3 commands over to Unreal IRCd, but the
- potential of it was soon realised and now it can be used under almost any
- scenario. We are part of the development team for the USIP testing ground.

- Policy on users:
- Everybody is a user, even opers are users, deal with eachother at that level.
- Please remember, when on this server you are both on your own and with a group
- of friends. You would be justified in wondering how this could be, you're on
- your own because we wont step into any battles that you have, but you're with
- friends because everyone on the server knows each-other to some extent and will
- be very willing to welcome new users. Do not deliberately raise the tempreature
- of the channel we like a friendly atmosphere, and we like to keep it that way.
- If a user is repeatedly antagonising people/raising the temperature in the
- channel, will face a 2 minute cool down gline.

- Official Channels
- Channels located at the server irc.v8d.org are mostly owned by private members.
- The only channels owned by the management are:

- * #chat - The first ever channel on the v8d IRC server. This is the home of
- irc.v8d.org.
- * #chat-staff - Limited for use only by staff of the #chat channel.
- * #development - This is where anyone interested in helping the server
- should come to further develop the services. It is also where you go if
- you want to know whats happening on the network.
- * #help - This is where new users should come if they need help/advice with
- IRC. Or if they are infected with a virus.
- * #opers - This is strictly for server staff only.
- * #v8d - The home of the V8d Project, here is where you go if you want
- information on USIP and help setting it up.

- Channel names are registered on a first come first serve basis. This is
- non-negotiable, no matter how close you are with one of the server opers.
