- ORWELL, GEORGE [1903-1950]. Born Eric Arthur Blair, in
- Motihari, Bengal, India, he began writing at an early age.
- He moved to England in 1904 with his mother and sister. In
- 1933 he became a contributor to the New Adelphi and assumed
- his famous pen name. His best-known works of fantasy,
- science fiction and, indeed, social commentary, were Animal
- Farm and 1984.
