- Rules:

- 1) You have entered our IRC Domain. Treat it and our guests with
- respect in all things. Harassment, Racism, and overall misconduct
- of that sort are unacceptable (We Are Your Judge and Jury)! We
- keep an open mind about you. Please be fair and do the same for
- others who come here.

- 2) Along with keeping the normal stupidity of the physical realm in
- control we will not allow the following stupidity of the virtual
- realm: Flooding, DoSing, malicious botnets, and all other
- related hacker-wanna-be conduct will NOT be tolerated. You get
- one warning--and this was it.

- 3) It is advisable for all users to keep up to date with the /rules and
- /motd. Regardless of the fact you did not take the time to read the
- rules they will be enforced to the fullest extent. Rules not listed
- are also to be followed at all times. Use Your Common Sense and
- remember if in doubt find out, ask in #nightstar or #help for
- advice.

- 4) You are entitled to believe in whatever morals you find
- appropriate. Keep in mind, however, that so is everyone else. If
- you have a low morality level, please keep it to yourself and
- share it only with those who come looking for it. This means,
- among other things, that profanity or obscenity in channel
- topics is only allowed for channels marked +s (secret), so that
- they do not show up in the /list of people who don't want to see
- it.

- 5) No porn. Talk about it all you like (after seeing rule #4, of
- course), but don't traffic it through our network. While
- Nightstar keeps an open mind about the concept, we take a dim
- view to the network attacks and disruption that inevitably seems
- to follow those channels.

- 6) No warez. This includes trafficking materials in violation of
- their copyright.

- 7) We are biased against colors in quit messages. It stems from a deep
- traumatic experience involving a clown, a mime, three strands of
- christmas lights, and a box of jujufruits. You don't want to know.
- To this end, any quit message found to have color codes in it will
- be confiscated and replaced with a different message that is less
- offensive to our scarred minds. This means if you quit and have
- colors in the message, people will see the quit message we
- assign you instead. If you don't want to look lame, don't do it.

- 8) Don't argue with us about IRC server related issues, We have the
- final say in all things to do with this network. This service is
- provided free of charge to you without any expectations of you
- except your common consideration and common courtesy to the ones
- who provide and maintain this service and the users who enjoy it.

- #nightstar_bar and #nightstar_central are the Network's chat
- channels (please refer to rule number four in the /motd now!)
- and we expect you to use common sense. Don't do anything that
- might be even slightly questionable.

- We have standard services in nickserv, chanserv, and memoserv.
- Use /msg nickserv help or /msg chanserv help to get started.

- NOTE: Our network occasionally uses WALLOPS messages to
- broadcast messages of varying importance. This includes those
- wacky White Courtesy Phone messages. You can turn these messages
- off by setting your usermode to -w. You can do this with
- "/mode your_nick -w". Join #nightstar if you need help with
- this.
