- Nemesis (Νέμεσις), the goddess of divine
- retribution. Daughter of Oceanus, Nyx or
- perhaps even Zeus, Nemesis is sometimes
- described as Adrasteia, the one from whom
- there is no escape. She was placed in a
- sanctuary in Rhamnous, northeastern Attica.
