History

Windfyre started out as a small website focused around gaming and gaming news. There begun a need for a place they could all chat that was simple and easy to use. To fulfill this need, they set about finding a IRC server. Around March 31st 2002, the site was converted into an IRC network home page. Windfyre had now changed from a Gaming Website into an IRC Network. The gaming website had changed to a spin-off called "TLOZA" which was a website dedicated to the game "The Legend of Zelda". The network is still focused around gaming to this day, however TLOZA is no longer in operation. Some time in 2007, Windfyre took a turn for the worst. The network was now lacking in funds and the staff had an argument. Long-story-short, Windfyre's chatters and staff split off and formed another network. This left Windfyre with no IRCd nor any hosting, therefore it had totally went dead. In late 2008, Harley McKittrick (h4rl3y123), a former chatter, had come to realize this and seen it as a great shame as the network was an awesome community. He set about contacting the admin and arranging to donate a server. Finally in May 2010, the admin (dann) had seen Harley's various e-mails and set-up the connection to the server. A few days later, Windyre was open once more, now with more features than ever. Windfyre was now in the stages of re-building it's community and hoping to return the network to it's former state. On xx/xx/xx, Windfyre merged with JangoIRC bring hundreds of users to the network and a few new servers. This is a major jump for the network, as in a few minutes it went from around 10 users to around 130 users. They now have a great team of staff who are dedicated to their job and love what they do. On Thursday 4th August, Star107IRC, a network formed by Star 107, an Internet Radio Station, merged into Windfyre to form a more open network, branching off from the station. This merge brought a great deal of activity and life to the network that had become quiet.
