SocietyOfTheMind split from ArcticIRC in mid 2004 due to staff issues, taking with it about 20 or so users, some of whom can still be found on our net. We got Anope services in Oct. 2004, and purchased our domain in Jan. 2005. In August of 2005, the network suffered a loss of its hub, as our admin had moved off to college, and that particular university has a strict "no IRC" policy. In May of 2006, the network had been re-organized after a merger with the Digital-Addiction network. On the 26th of June, 2006, the staff of the Digital-Addiction IRC network decided to delink us without any sort of warning or consultation beforehand. There was no downtime associated with this event, as our hub admin had some recent backups to go to. Services and normal operations were resumed within the hour of delink. Despite all of these events, SOtM has, and will remain, a fully functioning network for years to come.
