SleepyIRC was deamed a permanent project on May 2nd, 2009. Though the actual network was conceived a few weeks prior, it was crippled and small. Before May 2nd, SleepyIRC had five users, SSL was completely disabled, and SleepyIRC was running from a backup server with services that didn't even have the proper databases! However, after a bumpy start, SSL was fixed, IPv6 connectivity was alive, and our main server popped up out of nowhere. Since then, we have sprang from five users to around twenty in the main channel.
Since then, SleepyIRC has grown steadily for almost a half a year when an issue with all IRC servers appeared, and the network was shut down for about 48 hours. At this time, the user count remained just under 30 users. After restarting the network, SleepyIRC is back to the basics. |
