P2P-NETwork started in June 2003 from a single channel on the IRC network originally conceived as the official SuprNova.org network and it ultimately evolved to become its own IRC network. After the closing of SuprNova.org in December 2004, the IRC network staff voted to change the name to P2P-IRC. In July 2006, the person who ran the network at the time decided to move on and passed on the network to the current network admins. The network name was changed from P2P-IRC to P2P-NETwork (or P2P-NET for short), but the base users stayed the same and it has grown ever since.
