How it all began:
It was a day like every other day the 6th of August 2003 when I (Ne0) had a good working channel on a p2p IRC server. Me and FlaVinius (Janis, today's Web Hoster) tried to get new people into the channel, I joined a channel called #X where I met a guy called Opdude (that’s Danny). I asked him to join my old channel #TheMatrix_Zone and he did (OK u could have thought so).
Saying hello to Opdude:
I soon noticed that he was a good scripter and knew his way around with computers and some coding (when he made |_Sminzy_|). I had the feeling he and I would become good friends. He grew better in coding and scripting every day and so I did by learning a lot of things from him.
Early Steps:
2 or 3 months after he joined my old channel we (actually me) started to notice that the server the channels was on was really retarded and boring because of 1000nds of idiots who just try 2 say they are better.
So it happened that I just said: “Lets make our own IRC chat”.
We realized the project very fast by using a wIRCd (IRCXpro).
Getting more skilled with IRC…:
People who know this IRCd may now say that its shit and dump. So I say yes it is but we had no clue of irc hosting… at that time so it was a good solution for us. The main problem were the missing services (only nick and chanserv) and that we used a cracked version (its not freeware). So I decided lets take UnrealIRCD because its user-friendly stable and has a lot of useful and also funny modes. I didn’t understand it first but Opdude (who else) started it up in around 1h (not bad for the 1st time).
The long road:
Ok, we had a cool IRCd and also Services working after hard work (cygwin).
Now we needed a domain. Be sure we had no money and no sponsors or summit.
We got a .no-ip.com domain (that was harder than u may think) for the beginning it carried us until the 30th of April 2004
Now we have registerd with outerheavennet.org and thats all really :) | |
