Founded as a place to discuss Opera and of course use Operas built-in irc client OperaNet went online in October 2003. Back then the first internal test version with irc-support had just been released. On December 19th 2003 the first technical preview of Opera 7.5 was released to public (http://snapshot.opera.com/windows/w750p1.html) and announced the two servers irc.opera.com and irc.se.opera.com
Both servers were running ircu (Undernet IRCd) and Undernets channel service "X".
In January 2006 ircu was replaced by UnrealIRCd and IRC Services. irc.se.opera.com was shut down at that time as it didn't prove to be useful. | |
