The network was founded by shenziro and Matze in Dec 2005 as "Pixeleintopf.de" and was renamed to "Inside-IRC.net" in April 2006.

We're migrated from asuka to the advanced IRC daemon InspIRCd at the beginning of June 2010.  Key features such as channel-management are implemented and running stable in rewritten services-server but there is also a chunk of coding-work to do.
New feaures at a glance:
- Hostmask cloaking (dialup-11-22-33-44.some.provider.net is transformed to e.g. InsideIRC-dc80a7b4.some.provider.net)
- experimental IPv6 support via irc6.inside-irc.net
- SSL encrypted connections by using port 6697 or 7000
