GoodChatting.com started in February of 2001 after the Undernet Denial of Service attacks, which rendered it virtually impossible for people to chat there. I (Julie Martin) decided to get to know IRC from the admin side and started a small server so my friends and I could chat. At the time, I was the Chatting Online Guide at About.com. When About laid off 300+ Guides on September 25, 2001, I opened GoodChatting.com to the public, in the hopes of giving my displaced users a new place to chat.
Three years after opening, we're still small, stable and a whole lot of fun.
