Global Gamers began as a daydream and a sort of playground for a few individuals who had used IRC for a long time and wished that there was a network that combined all of the best traits they had seen in various networks, without the politics and confusion that typically ruin networks. These individuals became increasingly devoted to the idea of creating that very network that they dreamed of. They tested software and brain-stormed ideas until one day when they decided the time was right. It was on that day, that Global Gamers was born. Today, GG continues to look to the future and turn the dreams of what "could be" into realities. GG is not just an IRC network, but rather, it is a group of communities that use IRC as one of the many tools to help keep these communities thriving. There are rough patches in the road to the future, and GG is no exception to that. No matter what happens, though, we are always striving to improve and move forward. That is our resolve and we hope you come along for the ride!

Global Gamers (then Global Gamers Center) opened its doors to various communities in August of 2006, but it wasn't until November 11, 2006 that the network held an official launch event to celebrate the communities that had already made their home on the network. On November 11, 2007, the 1 year anniversary of the network's official launch as "Global Gamers Center," the network name was shortened to "Global Gamers."

Global Gamers is also the proud home of several former networks. In January 2009, UTChat permanently made GG its home. GameRadius joined the GG family in June 2010. Most recently, ReplayIRC has joined Global Gamers in February 2011.
