Starting in 1998, with a handful of users, brodle, and j (then xithor) wanted to escape the large networks and branch off on their own to provide a more friendly atmosphere, without the drama.
Over the past 10+ years, we feel we've managed to do that.
We've linked with other servers in the past, but found the best way to provide the sort of service we originally intended, is to stick it out on our own. As such, Everywherechat is now pretty good sized for a single server, ranking near 200 on searchirc, against much larger networks.
Since 2007, j and k have been working on a mass overhaul, which lead to the creation of the new Flash chat, and will soon allow us to introduce new irc services with xmlrpc access for webpages. | |
