DevNode started on February 4th, 2008. The exact time is unknown and debated. It began, according to popular belief, when danopia and CodeBlock linked, followed by charlie's server and services. Soon after, danopia's other server and duck linked into the network.

At this point, we had a few days long conversation about naming the network. Up to then, it was BottersNet. We finally decided on DevNode and purchased DevNode.org.

At that time, DevNode only had USA servers. wimt came to the rescue with two European servers, which were gladly accepted. Services were soon switched to another server due to administration reasons.

Since then, we have gained some more servers and users. Today, we have 8 servers, about 10 opers, and about 70 users.
