The DeepIRC Network has a long history with many ups and also many downs. Because of quarrels between the admins and the self-made dictator of the IRCnetz, eleven administrators and IRC operators decided to leave the network to create a new one without a dictatorship, because they want to have fun while chatting and administrating. All_Eyez_On_Me (Ally), [Anitech], CoolDuke, diskman, ^Hologramm, kenny5, NetSpLit, Olli, Padi, poiin2000 and zapf2000 are the founders of the deepest network in the world - The DeepIRC Network - on 28th of January 2003. The network has been running very successful in the first weeks, many users followed the IRC operators into the new network, cause they didn't want to miss them. New servers linked and new communities have been brougth to us - also new adminstrators and opers have done much to raise up the network - their nicknams: mavvy, odin, r00t, shock, ShunLi, vonny, VeNoM and xomicron. So we had one record after the other until...BOOM! A few of the other administrators from the IRCnetz didn't like to see the success of the DeepIRC Network, so they made the decision to engage DDoS attacks to get the users back - without success. The users held to us, but the attacks didn't stop and many users got more and more angry and finally they left us. Also the new linked servers delinked in cause of traffic problems and user loss. So we just had one big community and some smaller ones. The DeepIRC Network has been pretty ill. In the middle of May the last big community left us and its operators created their own network - really a pity. But we were too deep to give up. With the help of engaged users like MissAcidsugar who worked really hard to get new communities creating a channel here, the network raised and raised. MissAcidsugar became an IRC operator as result of her work. Since then it goes uphill, new communites came up and new servers linked so sina got administrator. We had some minor problems with the other new servers and their operators, but in the end everything was okay - they delinked. After that a new server connected and Roadrunner and cLiEbiG became IRC operators. In the beginning of December 2003 M4rKuS - who is one of our users since March 2003 - and OM linked a new server and brought new communities to the network and the DeepIRC Network is back now. The user activity is very high every day and night so you are able to find a chat partner whenever you want to chat. Now it is January 2004 and the DeepIRC becomes one year old. We thank our users who are the foundation of the DeepIRC Network - without you, we are nothing but seven servers and a huge heap of services. More to come soon....
