Coldfront IRC was formed on May 10th, 2002 by the founder of the Stratics IRC Network, FrostByghte. The network started as a test to determine if Stratics IRC should change ircds from customized bahamut to unreal. The network quickly started to form its own user base, originally starting with #lotd  Lords of the Dead guild/gaming community, and then from the EVE Online community soon after.

Today, Coldfront hosts official and unoffical channels from a spectrum of gaming communities, including EVE Online, Star Trek Online, Champions Online, Pirates of the Burning Sea and Cybernations. We are also home to a host of guild, clan and alliance channels, as well as several popular grass-roots internet radio stations.
