ChristianIRC started out as a single server, irc.fcwm.org, owned by Glen Edwards, running pircd as the server in July, 2001. It was intended to be a single server for churches or districts to use to help their members keep in better contact with each other. Chronic server problems, and being hacked 3 times in a short time period, forced the server off line. In May, 2003, Matt Smith approached Glen Edwards about networking servers to provide better stability for their ministries - if one server was down, hopefully the other would be online, keeping things up and running. June 3, 2003, ChristainIRC got its official start as a network with Matt and Glen as co-founders. | |
