ChatSpike was opened to the public on June 1, 2002 We have been steadily growing since this date and now average over 2000 users thanks to the addition of some channels recently (from December 2003).

In 2006, ChatSpike migrated to its own server software, InspIRCd and has plans for further evolution of its software in the upcoming years, with migration to its own services package, cservices.
