There have been many changes along the line, the original name was RDDirc (Red Dot Designs IRC).  RDD Germany started a small IRC server in their offices in Munich.  When they saw that there was a potential to make this grow, they started investigating how to make this bigger.  Along the line they found very skilled people in the field of IRC, and have slowly built up the network.  Today it is called AntIRC, Ant?  Allied Networks Together, the idea is that they want to build a network which is comprised of smaller networks, all working together.  From what started on an old spare computer in a back office, today runs on a network of servers around the world (Germany, USA, Canada and very soon, in South Africa)

One of the major contributing factors in the success of AntIRC is the radio station which is run on the network.  General Talk Radio (GT Radio) has proven to be very popular!  The shows vary from talk shows, to music request shows and shows focused on the gaming community.
