| Network categories are based on a network's focus. It does
not matter what the largest channel on a network is, what matters is if the
network itself is setup for a specific topic/theme, and that the theme is
carried out across most of the network. Thus the intent and purpose of the network.
Networks by category:
| General |
Describes any network that doesn't have a specific network
focus (this means a network that isn't geared towards a specific topic,
it has channels about everything) |
| Theme |
Network that has a specific niche, but doesn't fit into any
of the below items. |
| Regional |
Network created specifically for people of a region or language. |
| Entertainment |
Anything from bands to movies. |
| Gaming |
Network based around games, either to directly play games on IRC,
or game topics. |
| Help |
Primary focus on help topics, or helping users. |
| Age groups |
Children, Teens, etc. Any network based around people of a specific
age group. |
| Fantasy |
Non specific fantasy network |
| Anime |
Japanese culture themes - including Anime, Manga, etc. |
| Dating |
Network's with dating in mind. |
| Religious / Spiritual |
Networks with religious or spiritual overtones. |
| Family |
Networks that are "family" orientated. These networks do
not allow channels dealing with illegal content or anything sexual. |
| Hobby |
Topics include everything from Arts and Crafts to Sports. |
| Sexuality |
Networks with focus on sex. No one under 18 allowed. |
| Webchat |
Networks that have a primary focus on web users. This category is
reserved for networks that are almost 100% web users. |
| Commercial |
Commercial chat network. This is
reserved for commercial chat networks, NOT about networks that have
a commercial service (e.g; shell providers). |

The network modifies your visable host so that other users can't resolve

Network provides gateways for IRC users to IM friends via AIM, ICQ,

This network has NO services to complicate your chat |

This network allows users to connect to IRC from their website (Usually,
but not limited to java applets) |

These networks have music available for it's users. |
| Clean |
Network does not permit warez/file trading |
| No profanity |
Network rules do not allow cursing |
| Forced join |
This network forces users to join a channel, usually when first connecting
to the network. |
| IPv6 |
IPv6 is short for "Internet Protocol Version 6". IPv6 is the "next generation" protocol designed by the IETF to replace the current version Internet Protocol, IP Version 4 ("IPv4"). |
