Hello all,
I grew up on networks with srvx so I'm quite a fan of it and was hoping to get it setup however I was wondering if it's possible to also have HostServ and a BotServ setup with srvx. If there is a way to do this and someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. (Note I have Google'd quite a bit but everything comes up with different networks and how to use their HostServ >.>)
Thanks in advance. |

Thanks in advance. | Maybe try X3 Services. It's based off srvx with a few extras thrown in to make it easier to use. I've seen some networks even create some creative aliases that makes it act like Anope for users used to it. |

| I'm already aware of X3 and use it as a substitute for now but I would still like to know if anyone has suggestions for srvx and hostserv and/or (less importantly) botserv |

| Wild idea, but have you tried Atheme? Most people use it as an Anope replacement, but it does have the ability to work similar to X3. You can then decide the naming convention of the bots and which services you want with it. It's worth a shot if your looking. |

And anyway, he's looking for a X3 replacement with the required features. Atheme has several features that makes it act similar to other Services packages without losing it's own unique ones. To me that makes it superior to Anope - not to mention the proper integration of web interfaces, web chat clients, etc because of the magic of xmlrpc. |

Actually I wasn't looking for a replacement for anything, was simply looking someone who could tell me yes or no to whether or not you can simply add HostServ and (less importantly) BotServ to srvx and if yes if someone might point me in the correct direction. With that being said since people can only offer alternatives I suppose that's a no.
And yes I have used both Anope and Atheme. With that being said I would say I would have to side with Trixar_za in the position of preferring Atheme over Anope, however neither of them are really my cup of tea. |

In short, no. While both srvx and X3 provide fakehost support, they don't really provide the features you'd find in a traditional HostServ setup. So, there isn't really any alias trickery that'll get you what you want.
Now, if you know C, it's dead simple to add a new service module to srvx and X3. This is how some networks have added their HostServ support. The other option is to use an external bot of some sort, and give it the necessary access in srvx so it can retrieve the info it needs and change any necessary account settings. This is what GameSurge does (or something fairly similar), IIRC. |

Awesome, that was exactly what I was asking. Thank you very much for your time. |
