|
|
I have a dedicated FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE p1 box hosted by systeminplace and their wonderful connections. I am wanting to get into running an ircd. I will take offers from anyone thats interested. The box itself is a P4 HT, 4gb ram, and an 80gb sata. As for the connection , you can google systeminplace and find out for yourself as Im sure you will be pleased enough with wht you see. I will _not_ run UNREALIRCD, INSPIRCD, ULTIMATE, or anything else I consider to be childish. And I would prefer only the most serious irc networks inquire. I dislike networks full of warez and ddos bots, I dislike networks with more opers than users. I will not consider any irc networks with under 300 users.
I run an ircd for staticbox irc network from another machine, you can contact me there on #Lobby (my nick is betrayed) or you can leave a msg for me here.
Thanks. |

| Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't someone with over 300 users be more likely to pay for their own IRCd shells? I'm not saying you're unreliable or anything it's just that people giving away free IRCds generally go back on their word eventually, so someone who has 300 users would probably go for the paid option so they know they don't have to worry about someone they don't know who isn't a professional company having power over their server. |

Why would the owner of a 300 user network want to link up with someone who has a prejudice for anyone using an IRCd that he doesn't agree with? >_> |

| They wouldnt, and I do believe I stated my only reservations about linking to someone. I leave it up to them. It seems like a fair deal. Why do you care anyway? You must be an unreal fan. |

| Im very picky about which ircds Ill run. Unreal is just trendy crap that is just dead in the water, anope blows for irc services, inspircd is wannabe unreal with an uglier config, and Yes, if i want to off my machine up for an ircd, and they fit the criteria Ive mentioned already, who cares? I could be some dumbshit link whore that would actually consider linking to a 30 user network with 10 servers and 25 opers....like alot of these folks do on here. Not me. Sorry. |

(05:30:10pm) (Paul) no, atheme, not anope...
(05:30:19pm) (mike) i wish all of you damn unrealircd users would just link all of these crap ircds together that way everyone that doesnt want to run this shitbird ircd doesnt have to look through searchirc looking for possible links and be disappointed when 80% of them run this dead in the water ircd.

| Let's put it this way, no self respecting network owner is going to want you to link with them when you act like this. They'd have to be very desperate to do so. |

Although I support what "mike" in that quote above by greg, I must get a laugh in as I find it funny the way he said it.. The same thing can pretty much be said about bahamut, ircu, inspircd, nefarious, and all other ircd's out there as well by anyone who hates those ircds... It's not just unrealircd that should be getting criticism just because you out of hundreds of thousands of other irc users dislike it.
Oh no, I dislike bahamut, man you guys should link all those "crap" ircds together!! Not right man.. Not right.. |

| Im entitled to my own opinions and Im also entitled to pick and choose who I link my machine to. I am very picky. And Cue, I already have ONE ircd linked to a quite successful irc network, and they werent desperate. They suited my critieria without me asking. Now go back to hanging out with your little sandbox gang. Not to mention I help run rizon.net (#8 ) so...booyah. |

| darkwarrior i clarified myself as not wanting to use anything i consider childish, this does include unreal, inspircd, ultimate, and many other ircds that are crammed with useless features (unless you call giving operators insanely ignorant priveledges useful) just so the owners can treat their users like they are in a pitre dish. |

| again for cue, i would call the person who wrote the ircd for freenode (hyperion ircd) and develops atheme irc services, and conspire irc client VERY repsectable. You assume far to much simply because I dont want to end up being linked to some jerkoff kids. |

j4nk1e,
I hate to bring up a valid point, but it's clear that you're not an IRC addict, you seem to be a little obsessed with IRC in general. Who cares if someone is an unreal fan? You portray this image that unreal fans are losers which is a little over kill. Yeah, Unreal/Anope is a bit over used but that's because a majority of those admins are NEW, you know, kind of like when You started? Anyway, lay off with it dude - I doubt you have to worry about any newbies wanting to link to someone who posts on forums like hes a total jerk. |
