I visited the network but saw a few issues that would concern any potential server administrator interested in linking opportunities. First of all, you are asking for servers slightly above what you have to offer. That is generally OK if you are not strict on domain names, IRCd, staff positions. Your network averages about 6 users (Excluding operators), yet you are seeking 10-20 user servers. Secondly, you have 10 staff members judging from your MOTD. Assuming my math is correct, you have very little user to operator ratio. In addition, your neostats server is almost the largest server on the network.
irc.blueheavenchat.com (12)
|-NeoStats.blueheavenchat.com (10)
|-irc.uschatterbox.org (1)
`-irc.blueheavenchat.net (4)
Lastly, many server admins might not appreciate the fact that you bombard the user with 3 private messages from your neostats bots upon joining.
This post is not meant for bashing, but as a network owner looking for potential links, I always wonder why posts like these exist due to the nature of the network... |

Not meaning to offend/flame... but ...
I also find private messages poping up, upon connection are very annoying. I would suggest having these changed to notices...
Upon connection, if the user is new to the network... they will see the notices anyway... as they only have the Status window to view |

| Yeah, I second that, a notice is much less annoying than a query. |

Being the owner of my own biz I know what TO do and what NOT to do
If you want to grow, why are you telling people who dont use your service to make a suggestion to the owner to better suit it to everyone elses needs? The IRC community soaked up, success is VERY LOW and turn over is high. If you want things to change, take the majority of these suggestions and request them into effect your self, don't pawn it off to us users who don't even use the network. You guys really need to be innovative with your service, orchestrate your abilities to your prospective client base and continue to change for the good not the annoying. Running an IRC community and being sucessfull is almost as tough as having your own business because of how soaked the community is. There are literally 100 networks for the same thing with the same server/services package. So the question you need to be able to answer is "why us?" And you need to answer it without 'bleeding edge irc software, top security, ssl, ipv6, and plenty of staff and servers'. Look at SGWirc for example, 400+ peaks with an avg of 175 within 2 months of opening - and it's because we were innovative, took the right approach and executed with our abilities. I'm not bashing, thats not what I am doing at all. But I come on here and see so much of the same thing over and over again and people wonder why they have small user bases. Find something for chatters that is not soaked up, and make it your dominant selling point. I wish you the best of luck however. |
