Hello. Zerolimit.net is currently accepting client servers. if your interested, please see if you make these requierments.
Link Speed and Reliability:.
Server must have a T1 or higher connection. - (certain exception may apply)
Server must be able to handle min 1000 clients without spliting more then once a day.
Server Reliability:.
Servers should be stable enough to run for days or weeks at a time without rebooting. It should be intended that a server will be connected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
All Zerolimit servers shall run some flavor of Un*x (Linux, BSD, FreeBSD, etc.), which is what the ZL server code is written for. So No Windows servers will be permitted AT ALL!.
Server Access:.
* All ZL NetAdmins/CoNetAdmins will have ircd access (in case of emergency)
* Those that an NA/CNA appoint for positions needing server access, shall be given access
* All NetAdmins/CoNetAdmins will hold an O:Line with the min flags on the server at all times. Removal of the O:Line without prior permission is cause for your server to be Juped. There are NO exceptions
* Server Administrator will notify NetAdmins by email of a Password change to either the Server or Server die/restart command IMMEDIATELY.
* Server MUST have pico installed - vi sux!
Server Security:.
* Server must be a Dedicated *nix Box, the pending Server Admin MUST have root.
* Only the ZL ircd and eggdrops are allowed to be running on the server. No Warbots, or bnc's
* The Server Administrator will ask a NA/CNA before he or she adds or changes ANY IRCop. - Any NA/CNA has the right to add/delete an IRCop at their disgression
* Server will go through a testnet period of no less than 30 days on the network, during this period, the opers and admins of the server will be watched carefully, and reviewed by the routing staff if your link will remain perm.
* The Server Administrator will READ and AGREE to the Network Policy and adhere to it.
* The Server Administrator will train his or her opers, and send them the policy. The will also make sure that the opers attend the twice monthly Oper Training Classes held by the Training Committee
* All new Opers will be required to have a registered nick on ZL for no less then 30 days and will pass a Oper Test administered by the Training Committee and authorized by an NA Review. Upon completion of this Test they will receive their O:Line. Failure for a Server Admin to have their Oper take this test is cause for Delink.
Server Setup:.
The Security Staff of ZL will set up the IRCd. The Server Administrator will setup the other configuration files. Server will be named according to ZeroLimit.Net. [ie: whatever.zerolimit.net , biteme.zerolimit.net]
Server Personel:.
Staff Increases are portional to client increases
For a Server holding 1000 or more clients:
- 1 Server Admin
- 1 CoServer Admin
- 1 Global
- 1 Local Operators
No staff will hold a position on another network other then ZeroLimit IRC Network while linked due to conflict of interest. If found so, you may be asked to resign one position.
Things that will cause the application to be rejected:.
- Incomplete application
- Applying to link a server without the owners permission.
- Trying to link a 'shell' server.
- Not having root.
- A High Load avg.
- Not adhering to the policy.
Please consider these before applying:
- DoS attacks are not uncommon against IRC servers. As a server admin, YOU will be responsible for the consequences of having your server attacked.
- (If your provider doesn't like the fact you just used 100% of his bandwidth for the past hour, that's your problem.)
- The ZeroLimit IRCd takes approx. 80-120gig a month in bandwidth.
WARNING: Failure to adhere to these rules will result in a delink/or refusal of your link application and server.
If you meet all these requierments, please go to http://www.zerolimit.net/index.php?id=linkapp1 and fill out the application. Remember, you need to meet all of these requierments! If you have any questions, post on this thread or email me at Burningzerolimit@hotmail.com |

just some info for anybody that might think about linking to zerolimit (aka ZL). you might want to read this on them:
http://www.shadow-realm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1991
Yes, they don't care about any GPL violations that they do, so might want to read what the coder of Ultimateircd has thought of them for this act. |

| Also noting Mr StatixX that ZL has been saying for something like 2 months that the new IRCd to replace the ultimate hack is coming....it still isn't there yet... |

I hope they come up with a new one, 100GB/mo hub consumption makes unreal's bandwith usage look like nothing.
At least thats what they require, thats downright nuts, with 900 users on my network my hubs only consume about 17GB/month currently. Sounds like that IRCd is easily using 40GB/mo/per 1000 users. I hope the new one is much more efficent.... |

| Probably close to the type of numbers that would cause comcast to cancel you for using excessive bandwith, though they don't have any 'defined cap' either. |
