Just so everyone understands whats going on, if you look at the network graph (from the networks page), you'll see a messy graph:
The reason for this is because the Undernet IRC network, more specifically, the Atlanta server, is having issues of some sort, and splitting from the network for long periods of time. My index bot happened to pick that server to visit ...
Things to note:
1) SearchIRC caches channels. A netsplit does not remove existing channels from the database. A network would have to be offline for a week for all it's channels to be removed. Since most netsplits are for short periods of time, they tend to not harm anything. Established channels are almost always present on a network. The only thing a netsplit would do would cause SearchIRC to miss transient channels formed during the netsplit. Basically -- unless there is a netsplit for several days, the listings will still be valid and fairly complete.
2) The robot that visits Undernet was setup to pick a random server. It's also programmed to jump off the server and onto another after N period of cycles. As luck would have it, it happened to pick Atlanta a few times... Because of this, I'm setting it to NOT use atlanta for the time being. |
