|
|
Hello,
2 admins are willing to link a dedicated high speed IRCD to a well structured P10 IRC Network. P10 IRCDs include (but are not limited to) Nefarious, Asuka, and IRCU (most notably known on undernet). We also have optional services (if needed) that were custom written but are of lighter weight than most services. Otherwise the current network's services shall be run (where they are currently). This machine actively served HazeNET with a capacity of over a thousand connections.
Machine specs:
Processor: AMD Sempron(tm) 2400+
Memory: 512 MB
Hard Disk: 120 GB 7200 RPM
Connection: 100 Mbit (BGP from Abovenet and Cogent)
----------------------------------------------------------------
The admins are:
-- Compy
Experience: Coding on the GNUWorld module structure (Undernet's X bot) and other custom modules. PHP, Perl, mIRC Scripting, TCL, core IRC network operations (on the technical level), user/consumer relations (helping basically). Over 6 years IRC Experience.
-- Proto
Experience: 9 years IRC experience, fluent in the UNIX environment and in the Perl programming language and shell hosting.
(Proto provides quick and efficient solutions to technical problems among the network)
------------------------------------------------------------------
That is all of the staff that would be accompanying this server. Please do NOT reply or contact us just asking for certain jobs dealing with fields of experience listed here, you get the whole package.
Please do not apply if you have excessive drone connections. NO WAREZ NETWORKS. Also keep in mind we ARE sticking with the P10 layer out of preference and experience in its operation. We also ask that you have at least 20 users (not including staff/service bots). This ensures that there is an actual need for the server on the network (P10/IRCU can service 20 users on a home cable connection if configured properly).
These requests/requirements may seem harsh and/or demanding, but most are nothing more than common sense.
If you are interested please contact us at:
music0m@alltel.net (AIM: Shagginwagon57) -- Compy (Im also on undernet). Our server is currently idling on irc.hazenet.org:6667 if you wish to check it out. (Please do not complain that we're asking for 20 users when our network has less, thats why we're wanting to service yours).
Thank you,
Compy, Proto -- Haze Networks |

| P10 ircds make up the largest networks out there, Undernet (ircu), and QuakeNet (asuka) are very stable and very strong. |

moviebot didn't say anything about stability or anything else.
He simply stated that in his opinion, the ircd's suck. |

1) Umm, scripts are for clients, modules are for servers.
2) The reason why most Unreal networks "suck" is not because of the IRCd itself, it's because of the mindset taken in the adminstrative practices of running the Unreal-based network. Nefarious can be just as abusive, I gurantee.
3) Not all UnrealIRCd administrators are "newbs". While it is common knowledge that Unreal is the ircd of choice for those new to administrating IRC networks, there are those network administrators out there who run Unreal because of it's feature offering (such as extensibility through third-party modules.)
I don't use a P10 ircd nor do I use UnrealIRCd. Atheme supports both of those protocols though. So in conclusion neither P10 ircd's or UnrealIRCd "suck", the suckage is a result of the people who run them. |

GNU nano 1.2.4 File: Config
#!/bin/sh
#
# Config script for UnrealIRCd
# (C) 2001 The UnrealIRCd Team
#
# This configure script is free software; the UnrealIRCd Team gives
# unlimited permission to copy, distribute and modify as long as the
# copyright headers stay intact
#
#
# Rewritten completely to be an interface to autoconf by codemastr
# This was inspired by the config by Michael Graff (explorer@flame.org)
# but was written from scratch
# In order to be faster than the old Config, this assumes that all information
# in the cache file is valid and therefore doesn't check it, so if you messed with
# default values thats your problem
# some bits edited by baafie on March 17 2004, every change marked.
RUN_CONFIGURE () {
ARG=""
# Do this even if we're not in advanced mode
if [ "$SHOWLISTMODES" = "1" ] ; then

etc. etc.
ITS A SCRIPT. If you don't believe me;
nano ~/Unreal3.2/Config
You do type, ./Config, to launch your IRCd's configuration, don't you?
...On another note.

| You'll find you also do the same with virtually every other ircd, or application - with a configure script or equivilant. I think that's the point you were trying to make, anyhow.. |
