Quick note, I've gotta go soon:

[23:51:25] <JohnB> i think in time...when the next release of searchirc comes out
[23:51:34] <JohnB> network announcements will be topic creator reply only
[23:51:58] <w00t> hmm
[23:52:08] <w00t> i think a general "score" feature for networks'd be cool
[23:52:22] <w00t> ie registered users who go to that network can come here [sirc] and "add" or "subtract" from that networks score
[23:52:27] <w00t> kind've like a numeric comment

[editted a little to add clarity]

To clarify...that was my PERSONAL opinion...not the one of SearchIRC.

I have no idea what would happen...but it has been suggested and talked about before by myself and ed to stop and stop all the banter on there.

I personally hope it does become topic creater reply only and a similar system to what w00t suggested is implimented.

an excellent idea, yes, but like all ideas and tools, it would be one easily abused.
People who have an axe to grind against the network owner, or a staff member of a network would constantly click the "-" button just to reduce that Network's score. Unless of course, one vote/registered member

while the above is all fine and well, how many people you have on your network do you know off that also have an account here on searchirc?
or, even do read here too?

All things come with pros and cons. Personally I'd gladly accept the restriction that only I can modify my network announcement in exchange for keeping the flamers in their own yard.

It's constantly evolving, the "network owners only can reply" has already been done.
