How about a way to see what "type" of server each irc network is running?

we have one and the other would be impractical. |

| I think he means what IRCD they are running. It could be, in theory, done. I think Jason's reasoning for not doing this was because the bot would have to do a few extra steps, which would slow it down. And when the bot slows down, records aren't as fresh, information is delayed, etc. |

I don't agree with this on the principle that if an exploit came out for a certian IRCd, a quick search on here could reveal which networks are exploitable and they could be immedietely attacked
I would reccomend any such detection be 'generic' if implemented  |

| It would be trivial to add functionality to record what servers run what version of ircd, but as ed said, it would add in one additional /query. Not a big deal, but I'd rather keep the bots doing only the commands they absolutely need to be doing. A server version listing isn't going to be something the majority of irc users will care about IMHO, so for now it's not on the TODO list. |
