Note: This isn't in services offered because this isn't all IRC related

Hey guys, just wanted to let you all know about my latest hobby:

www.freelinuxshell.com

I'm "donating" my old P2 dell optiplex to the community for educational/very small program usage. The signup link is not yet active because we are still creating the auto-signup page that'll automatically create your account, however, I'm letting you guys know first (cause im nice). So, if you would like to use the box for educational/programming/eggdrop hosting purposes, feel free to email me your desired username and password and I'll email you back when your account is created!

EviL_SmUrF1@hotmail.com

Have fun, and please keep in mind to play nice on the box and follow the rules. Don't abuse something that's being given to you =)

sounds good Evil_Smurf

I been thinking of offering free shells for development purpouses from one of my ubuntu Linux boxes since I got up to 10 static ip's from my T3 for free, just to let ppl do as they wish as long it doesnt cause harm to anyone or the box itself Smile

I'm turning an old optiplex box into a mobile WiFi base hooked up to the Sprint Vision broadband network. I'm not going to lie, it should be pretty slick - once I get the time to get everything installed.

I got many projects in mind Evil_Smurf, so many that a lot of the ideas of things to do have gone into the "screw it lets do this instead" lol

anyways one of my main projects its to make a team of programmers/coders and contribute to the Open Source community, I have been contributing to Open Source projects for about 6 months now, and some day in some near future we might hit the big one, for now I really want to get into the Berkeley University MIT department, heh takes a lot to get in.....

Berkeley University MIT department? Sounds pretty tough...

Kinda like being in two different places at once.

I have at times considered doing free shell hosting. I dont want, however, a box that gets rooted right away. Anyone know of some good FreeBSD hardening guides/tips?

It's too bad that this didn't work out. I think something like this is needed. The cost of a shell account may have gone down in price in recent years, but even an extra $10 per month can add up, when combined with a lot of other little $extras per month. There are a lot of IRC users who only need a shell account for the legitimate purpose of hosting a bot or two.

Would anyone else be willing to try this?
