Listen, katsklaw if you know so much, do something about the plain idotic users who get compromised ok, use those "SKILLS" you like to think you have to create something that will prevent users systems or auth's getting stolen completely; seeing as you like to argue, the saying "your never wrong but your never right" comes to mind, yeh the same goes to me, but a difference being myself and magpie who is an oper on the largest network both agreed on the same thingl, yet you come from shabby network with no more than few users or so, so there is a difference, so why argue, the needs for quakenet and smaller networks out weigh each other/differences, so what you may seem ok on your networks, quakenet has a higher tollerence of users moaning when new functions are added so to keep one side happy, they got to make compromisations for the other and vise versa.

Steve_ why start this thread if you know so much about it eh, or were you just challeging the users of this board to see how much they know, you obviously aint got a clue else you would of known the answer to your question already.

You had a decent enough answer to your questions, it wasnt out of context, if you dislike it email quakenet and explain and tell them so, that their faq's are wrong and so forth cuz i can imagine the response your email will get, straight into the deleted box... oh dont forget to mention how important DNS is to them and how then need to enforce +x

Reqest from the moderators to close this thread as its boring and getting side tracked from the original topic. Not because i know i am wrong, just pointless arguing with people who cant ever be wrong init katsklaw.

Perhaps you missed the post where I stated that I was a Services Admin on one of the largest network in the world(back then) BEFORE Quakenet ever existed. Even if that wasn't true.. just because you are an oper there don't mean that you know any more than any other oper on any other network.

I know that we don't agree on a few issues .. so what? .. there is always more than one way to correctly do things .. please remember that and I AM taking action .. I protect *ALL* of my users. I am also actively involved in this forum along with several others that support IRCd's and services .. I also happen to be a staff member of The IRC Administrator's Guild. I invite new admins to come to my net and I help them step by step in installing and configuring their IRCd and their Services. So I *DO* my share to help the IRC community.

No, I have never opered on Quakenet or any other large net that runs services such as yours ... but as a *USER* on UnderNet .. I can promise you that if I could get my host hidden automaticlly I would have NEVER wrote my auto-auth script.

mm your the one taking about Qnet auths being stolen that has nothing to do with this topic.

Only reason i talk about dns is cuase thats the way people get other peoples IP/hosts if they do not have +x so thats directly on topic.

and i dident want to start a fight and i dont know everything, never said i did never will.

if you dont like this topic then and if its boring why reply ? why ask for it to be closed ? just case you dont like it does this mean that other users that are intersted in it cant post ? they cant if its closed.

i just wanted to start a topic that in my mind is very important, and hear why Qnet dont do it and hear other peoples thoughts on it not to start a flamming match.[/b]

Sorry miss-typed that, i meant to say mag is an oper i aint an oper on quakenet.

Steve_
I replied in good will to help clarify what was asked, it turned into a flame war so i requested it be closed to perhaps let things cool down, not to prevent others from posting.

If it hurts that bad, sorry for my replies, i'll stop posting.

Regards.

Mouselike dont take things so to heart... its the internet not real life

I woundnt say there was flamming (maybe a little but would out that down to being a heated debate) in this topic i would say that it ended up turning in to a debate, as in any debate users are going to disagree and try to stick up for that they bevlive in, and try to push there ideas forword, and i think its healthy to do so if everyone was the same then the world would be a boring place.

For sending a E-mail to Qnet yup probley would be deleted, cuase they dont see a need for setting +x on connect. dont make it right or wrong in the end.

I think this topic done what it was set out too, becuase now we know partly the reason why Qnet dont do it. and we heard other peoples views of how they do it on there Networks,

Any user thinking about this for there network could know read this topic and decided if there for or against doing it on there own Network.

bye
