No it isn't.
It's not abuse of power to akill you if you're in your privately-run channel #x and instructing your bot to ban users who are both in #x and network-run channel #y, no. That's denying users free access to said network-run channel.

Its one thing to kick an op who abuses their authority out of the CHANNEL, but removing them from the network is an abuse of power.
IMO |

I edited my post because on second reading I thought I may have misunderstood... and I did. You are saying an IRC op removed a user from the network because he banned users from his OWN channel?
Then let me rephrase myself:
That is UNQUESTIONABLY an abuse of power by the IRC op. A channel owner is 110% within his rights to deny access to his OWN channel to ANYONE for ANY REASON. He did not deny access to any other channel, he simply said, if you are there you can't come here. That is his RIGHT. The IRC op should be suspended or removed, not defended. |

The point I was makeing, before I was banned from the "network" help channel was: You can't recommend ONLY Network channels. I was trying to convey that when/if the Networks grows there will be channels provideing help. Like #computers, that may not be network owned.

But you akill for someone banning something you don't approve of. The statement that "I was denying users service" is laughable. |

Interesting, you say that you cannot be held responsible for what happens in private channels, and you are also banning someone from the network because they are doing something in a private channel... |

| As much as I may philosophically disagree with what the network owner did, he/she is fully within their rights to deny or limit access to his/her IRC network. He/she is paying the bills and is allowing access by the public under certain conditions. For all intents and purposes, it's still privately owned. However, I still think that the person is pretty misguided for doing what he did. You don't gain the trust of the community by doing things like that. |

Yeah, Irc runs on The Golden Rule.
You put up the gold, you get to make all the rules you want. |

Yes, we can. You forget that it is an OFFICIAL help channel, and for reasons of accountability, OFFICIAL channels must be recommended.

You were the one who got pissy because YOUR PRIVATELY-OWNED channel wasn't recommended to users. Is it mature to deny other users access to YOUR channel because they were in #gyc? No. Grow up and get over yourself.
Also, if I find out the person who has been leaking personal information about me to your channel, they will be severely dealt with (not by me, the IRCOp. By ME the channel co-owner and ME the individual). Consider that a warning for you to mind your own business. Personal information about me is none of your business or concern unless I make it your business or concern and I'd advise your little 'messenger'/spy of that if I were you.

I wasn't the one who did it. |
