This post wasnt made to hurt anybody and if the moderators feel that this is too touchy a subject, then please remove the post with my wishes.
I have been on irc for 5 or more years now, and it only came to me today that i have never talked to another person knowingly they are a different colour to me.
I find this odd and shocking that in 5 years i have never talked to anybody that is black, at least to my knowlage.
So if you dont mind filling in the poll i would be interested in seening the results.

I have a thick skin. Besides spelling "color" wrong ;) and lumping all other races under "non-white" (ever hear of mixed race?), I don't see anything wrong with your post. In fact I think it brings up a very GOOD point.
I don't ask people what color they are, how tall they are, whether their hair is kinky or straight, whether they are blind or deaf, bedridden, obesely fat or anorexic - it doesn't MATTER to me. IRC gets rid of all that. Its the great equalizer. Only our words count. |

its just that over the years people i begin to know and become friends with usualy share pictures i do the same. i just find it amazing that on irc race-religion-sexuality really doesnt matter, yet in real world politics its scary.
thinking about it i have 1 romanian friend on irc, and yet i never thought about his skin colour funny isnt it...

well I've been on the virtual highway for some time now  I like to meet peoples from different countries. BUt I never came accross a "black" man/woman .
BTW I'm from Europe (Belgium)

| On our network, we have a few black people, we have a few asians, a few mexicans. as it was stated, IRC truly is the great equalizer, race, weight, looks are all out the window. most times you dont even give it a thought. and you know what, most times its a shocker when you find out. like for instance, you would never know that one dude looks like jesus christ, or another looks like muhamed ali. and you know what... it doesnt matter, as long as you dont cause problems, i dont care. my 0.02US$ |
