Just wanted to let you know that the newtork "FastLand" is cheating.
You must have noticed it suddenly showed up and went in the top20 straight away, and has some of the biggest channels.
Well, the reason is simple: they've linked an OpenNap file-sharing network (like WinMX) on a patched Unreal ircd, and filled up a lot of channels with drones (try joining and you'll see none of them talks -- no wonder, they can't).
More proof can be gotten with a /MAP:
irc2.fastland.org (15) 5
`-hub.fastland.org (0) 40
|-irc.italynet.org.uk (0) 136

End of /MAP
Funny how the 95% of the users are on the *.dune.fastland.org servers, and the OpenNap community is called "Dune"... Netsplit has removed them too. |

Thanks for the info, I will look into it shortly.
Just so you know, there are several networks that fake their lusers and /list output.
Because FastLAND is an IRC network, SearchIRC will always list them in the network listings. However if deemed necessary, we may remove them from being indexed and having their channels available in the IRC search. For especially bad networks, such as spamming networks, we will also make note of the network's ethics in the network info page. |

Thank you for pointing out this situation to us.
We have concluded that indeed FastLAND is creating fake users in order to create the appearance of a larger network with large warez channels.
Rather than deal with the fake information and weed out the abnormal channels from the legit ones, we have decided to not index FastLAND for the time being. Should they stop this type of activity, we will reconsider indexing them.
You can read more on the fastland network page:
