Hello,

I would like to report SummerNova for using eggdrops to increase their user count. If you join their main channel (#SummerNova) and join their eggdrop channel (#eggdrops), there "users" build nearly 75% of their userbase. Just letting you know.

psssst, there isnt one eggdrop on the network if you looked, but yes we do use eggdrops on the network to increase activity in the RPG game and other eggdrops are purposeful like bmotion chat bots, weather bots, trivia games.

I think your own words speak for themself, you dont like the network or the users so you insist on wanting to bad mouth us (Summernova)

Is such a small IRC community really that much of a problem for you ?

Personally, I don't like expanding user numbers using bots, unless said bots HAS a function, like providing games or some other services.

If it's 'network' bots, then I don't see the point of using more than one eggdrop (maybe two) to provide everything. However if it's mostly user run bots, then I don't see the problem with having so many of them. They provide a purpose and gives the users a certain freedom too.

Anyway, it's down to personal preference - going on person crusades to 'stamp out' networks that use bots is a little over-the-top, especially if you don't take the time to find out what those bots' purpose is for being there. There are networks that inflate numbers like this, but they tend to be more 'secretive' about it, by using hidden channels only Opers can join. I doubt then that this network is doing that though since it's in plain sight.

Oh i totally agree with you, since we delinked the network from ours they have had some childish revenge thing going as they demanded oper status, thats the first i've seen of the "The_King" in a month or more, but when he and others are bored (when the kids are off school and on holiday) they try dossing the network out, they botnet & flood rooms and users for fun, create fake logs to justify it and then post them on the net, 100% childish of course and we have never given them any reason to act like this, but as you can see the holidays are here so we will have to put up with bot attacks flooding and all the rest of the crap they create. (roll on school starting back up)

who the hell cares. any network pathetic enough to boost its sirc ranking is just going to fail anyway. it's not as though the usercount means anything in regards to the quality of a network.

I 100% Agree with you on that, My Network user count is under 100 user has been for some time. But we have great people and staff and its growing slowly due to that the people and staff just like to chill and enjoy each other company.

I agree with the fact using eggderops to improve global usercounts is pretty lame. But since i know Sofia and Qunnion and some of my friends are on that network im not gonna flame about it.

What ever the network would like to do is its concern, since TheKing isnt any part of the administration of SummerNova he really doesnt need to get involved.

Since i own my own network too i would feel the same thing if someone flamed about my network. Since we're paying the fees for these networks its up to us what we want to do.

I would have to agree with the theory Lyhne has, a network is most likely to succeed by having actual substance and people who gel and like to hang out together in the beginning stages of an irc network. Numbers does nothing to provide and keep the interest of users. I will take quality over quantity anyday.

Im acutally on summernova, Theres no eggdrops but one. Stop trash talking a server when you never been there. If you wanna trash talk someone or thing how about we start with nothing Wink.
