I'm looking to open an IRC help site, something like irchelp.org is, except with no static html pages and it'll be up-to-date as well as not based on a specific network and/or client. there will be how-to's and tutorials, ircd and services specific help will be separate from the main help sections. Most content will be in the form of a forum so others can contribute as well.

Any one interested either as a user or a helper, please PM me.

we started making an extensive one under our help wiki:

http://searchirc.com/help.php?id=1

but didn't get enough interest to build up the pages. So I deactivated the non SearchIRC specific topics from the tree.

yeah I remember that Jason. IMHO and very personal opinion. I was turned off by the wiki/static idea. I think that users should interact directly as can be done with a forum where a tutorial can be posted and others can comment and discuss the topic as well as ask questions.

I of course can't answer for others. Perhaps they had other reasons, perhaps not .. who really knows for sure.

It would be easy to add chat to the topics a la ircimages.

I think that there just wasn't anyone willing to put in the time.

Originally I had our tips&tricks forum restricted to those I know are competent to deliver accurate information. However, after thinking it through a bit more I've realized that it would take alot of people to build a team that could cover "all the bases" if you will since no one knows everything. So I've opened the forum for anyone to post any type of IRC related How-To or tutorial on any topic (except how to do anything illegal*)

This forum will be moderated to help eliminate anything blatantly inaccurate, for example a post claims that emoticons can't be used on IRC since IRC is text only. Which we all know is not true, since they can be handled at the client level.

Everyone that wants to share their how-tos/tutorials are welcome to do so at this time.

*Illegal defined as warez/DoS/DDoS/sharing of copyrighted files .. etc. Illegal is also defined by the laws of the USA as that is where the web server hosting the site is from.

as an update, we've moved our site to a new host and I've released the first in a series of irc tutorials called SMLS.

As an update, we've just added a downloads section for users convenience. The downloads section will be for IRCds, services, clients as well as scripts. While user scripts are accepted, we won't add just anything. There are plenty of crappy script sites out there for that.

We primarily want to focus on resources for users of all levels as well as admins and opers of all experience levels. If you have been around IRC for a few years and wish to pass along your knowledge then ircmojo.net is for you. Likewise if you are new to IRC and want to learn how to do something, ircmojo.net is for you. Wink

Content is added regularly, so check back often. If you wish to help or need help, see us at http://ircmojo.net
