why lock the scrwl protection topic?

If most people on this network are apposed to warez and such and your scrawl bots that index channels must see these xdcc channels....i think banning scrawl is a good idea since its most possible that you folks might be FBI informants or some shit. Otherwise why have the indexing bots act like floodbots by constantly changing ident@*? And dont say its because they are seperate bots .......

random idents were from a long time back when some idents triggered bans on some networks but worked on others. So I hacked together a perl script that pulled random words. There's only about 25 ident words used, so it's possible to ban them all if you wanted, but that's kinda silly because ident is useless and my hostname is plain as day.

perl, lol.....the sum of all bad practices that leaves you with crappy looking unmaintainable code.....thats one reason Defender has so many problems too....someone should have used ruby or python instead.

IMO perl is like jacking off an hour before a hot date, you spend hours creating your own shitty syntaxes before you can even get anything but that accomplished.....ruby and python imo are already better suited for most jobs tht people use perl for. Hell, most perl coders dont even recognize their own work because its so crappy.

And as to your request for a better ircd......I have no need for one....solid-ircd is rock solid ...its stock bahamut with hostmasking...no unnessecary frills. I disagree with people that think "better" ircds are those like unreal (if there was a contest to see how much useless crap you can cram into a poor little ircd, unreal would win hands down). Better ircds imo are those that make operators actually be active instead of setting a crapload of ugly channel modes to do everything for you, there is no better substitute for the human mind. And honestly, Im not sure irc indexing search engines are at all a good idea after my conversations with some of these people on searchirc. I have banned scrawl and tunix from my ircds since the info they collect is pretty meaningless unless youre the fbi looking for warez channels.....not that the fbi would care about a little warez channel..but you all whine like its the biggest thing on the fbis list. If the FBI gave two shits about illegal warez, huge networks like rizon and criten etc wouldnt be online anymore. Anyway, /endrant
