Yes, Recently we have been attacked by someone who has a network listed on searchirc/ Indexed. Is there any possible way I could report this network and have it investigated to be dropped from the indexing list? This person has used Scrawl's name to flood this network. And Its quiet annoying. If one of the admins could get back to me on this. I would appreciate it. thanks

In the past, people have tried to report networks for whatever in the hopes of getting them de-indexed/deactivated - and it used to work, until Jason wised upto the tactic and no longer does this.

Additionally, look at it from an investigative perspective - how can anyone prove that a network indexed by searchirc is attacking yours or anyone elses? Logs (too easy to doctor/fake one)? Connect to the "attacker" and ask them (1 of 2 replies would be likely: "Prove it", and "Yeah, so what?")?

The only way for a network to be deactivated nowadays on SearchIRC is if the crawlers can't connect to it for a week, or there's vast evidence proving it's using nefarious means to baloon/inflate it's numbers in order to rank higher

Quite the contrary... my reference to scrawl above was to point out that if SearchIRC's scrawl can't connect to a given network for at least a week, it'll get deactivated - not if scrawl can screw a network over.

This would be your prerogative and completely unaffiliated with SIRC. Any smart admin knows that the *REAL* scrawl connect from *@data.searchirc.org and you will only do nothing but get yourself attacked or worse. If you go about doing this then you will only make yourself a target and prove you lack maturity.

What's not being understood is that SearchIRC can do nothing about this. delisting does nothing. As does wasting time complaining here. Not a single person here can do anything about someone abusing your network .. period .. full stop.

If you are so serious about this, contact their ISP who DOES have legal grounds and CAN do something about it.
