For your own information and I hope others read this post too.....BSD dates back to 1977 and the linux kernel wasnt created until 1991. Every linux distribution out there has parts of BSD in it you [BANG!]. Oh, and downloading warez isnt illegal [Um, yes it is].....uploading them is. It would behoove you to know what the hell your talking about before joining someones irc network calling people script kiddies.

I see nothing wrong with file sharing personally, if you dont like it, dont do it. Millions of XDCC channels exist without being prosecuted for anything. Im not worried. And then there is mr bill clintons internet privacy act....thats very helpful for keeping unwanted authorities the hell out of my business. |

| Maybe I am misinformed....oh well...look at rizon and all of those warez based networks that have been operating with no problems wht so ever for years....I think the FBI is much more worried about whose going to blow something up for Allah next. I dont ask for anyones approval on my asking for a file sharing channel to come to my network, if you dont like it, dont bother with it. my request was for a file sharing channel....not a million litle whiney punks flaming me because i think file sharing is ok. |

I'm not going to defend twiggz but honestly who cares about warez? everyone downloads something illegal everyone did something illegal in his/her life.
I myself have no warez in my network but if whoever wants to have xdcc in their net I just let them be!! I'd like you all to consider not going off topic on sensitive posts like his.
If he was looking for xdcc and neither of us has the stuff to offer then we shouldn't bother him and leave his thread open for someone who's up for it be illegal or not. I'm sure neither of us belong to some sort of law enforcement department so why pretend to save the day worrying so much about irc warez when it's actually one of the smallest places to get stuff?
Maybe i've gone mildly off topic too! and I guess that's the fun of posting in forums lol
Just a personal thought on the issue. |

meh i agree with mage if ya want to have an xdcc channel on yout network then run one.. its your bandwidth you pay for it and everyone bitching at you saying theyre ilegal isnt goign to help. People should just bother with their own nextworks not moan about other people.s

I used to be a part of networks that had xDCC bots filling up the five largest channels (at the "peak", the largest ten were running at 4,000 or so unique bots each) - then came the DDoS attacks (anyone who says you can stop DDoS is a fool, in my opinion, so let us not go there) from "competing" warez kiddy groups. I didn't care for free downloads (this may be paranoid me, but who's to say that Windows.XP.Pro.Cracked.By.WarezKing.rar doesn't have an easter egg or three just begging to be opened?), but I did care for my name being slung thru the mud and the users (humans, mind you) who were having a disruptive experience because the servers kept dropping from the attacks. So it was decided among the staff to snub out the xDCC channels once and for all - what a mission!
Yes, I also used to believe Microsoft were evil and didn't deserve to make any money off my ass - but I didn't pirate, and even now I still hold that belief, but still don't pirate. But nonetheless, I was on a network that openly supported warez (do note, however, I was not a member of SearchIRC at the time), and as such if the likes of an anti-warez group came along and started collecting names, it was a sure bet I'd be on the list. So when I say warez isn't worth the risk, I'm speaking first hand.Mine plus tax too  |
