I've found checking for isAnOper numeric to work pretty well. I've only had one server be unable to validate, and that's because they changed oper to network administrator or something, and also changed the numeric for it too.

There are different levels of oper access, generated by different levels of trust. Just as there are different levels of access to this site and IsAnOper just isn't good enough in my opinion and I personally don't want just any oper editing our presence on SearchIRC. While IsAnOper may work well enough for you, it does not work well enough for everyone.

Perhaps on tiny networks where the ability to issue O:Lines is easier to manage this is fine, however it's not that way on all networks. Some networks have opers on them that the founders have never met. Where trust is issued through the authority of others.

I hope the defacement that I am wanting to prevent has never happened and never happens to any network.

Since this is a question related to removing an oper from a network's list, I felt it'd be better to ask here as opposed to create a whole new thread for one silly question.

That being said, my question is "is it possible for someone to remove only themselves from a network's representatives list? or must one purge the whole list and pray there isn't a linching mob out to find them?"

it wipes out the entire list.

this prevents someone who has access but isn't an oper any longer, from sitting there and wiping out others access as they try to sign up to remove the person who should not have access.

so no "Remove only me" option then... bugger. I recently retired from opering on one network, and was hoping to remove myself from the network's information page while still keeping the other representatives on the list.
