Right.

I was just talkin to the owner of RSInfinity about linking, but when i went on there network, i typed /botserv botlist i found about 56 bots online.

I questioned him about this and i got this response: .:19·34·19:. <@Aturner44> Cameron we added them the other day to get us higher on searchirc, we dont see them causing any problems

I think this is cheating SearchIRC and i believe this is against the policies, it also makes the network look really bad..

Comments please. Smile

As stated in the terms and conditions of being indexed, employing tricks and methods to boost user counts (including - but not limited to - pseudo-servers dedicated to just bringing in fake users, connecting a stack of eggdrops/energymechs/whatever, etc) is grounds for delisting.

This is the monthly overview of said network as of the time of writing... it does look somewhat sudden, but that may be due to network mergers/servers linking - relatively normal for that kind of time period.

From what I can see the bot count is down to 18 BotServ bots and 11 regular services bots with 96 clients on the main server. That to me is acceptable to be honest.

Its not about the network so much as presenting accurate information about the network.

For example, if we see 40,000 invisibles and 1 user in /lusers but the largest of their six listed channels has 3 bots and one idle admin or we see a graph that shows a network of 200 has loaded so many clones so that their userbase shoots up 1500 in 3 seconds and those clones stay on the network in order to boost up their rankings and make them appear larger than they really are, then that affects the accuracy of SIRC's information about that network.

We don't have any hard and fast rules of how many bots are too many, but as a general guide if a bot is serving a purpose then there's no problem. If the network fakes data or there are significant number of connections that exist only in order to boost numbers then we will consider not indexing that network.
