I currently reaside on a 1500 user unrealircd network which is nice but certinally not unique as most of other networks are unreal + anope and is getting quite boring to see only unreal networks these days.

So I am looking to create another ircd and link to a network running ircu, hybrid, ratbox or even bahamut and ultimate if needbe aslong as it aint unreal!

Nothing is immediate yet just testing the water so to speak.

I do tend to agree with the excessive amounts of unrealircd/anope networks out there, though I suppose it's just the popular choice. It'll be interesting to see how Unreal4 pans out with the whole forking of inspircd.

I am still and always have been a fan of bahamut personally, but whichever ircd you choose, I wish you luck on the project.

What's "lame" is those who label everything they don't agree with as lame Smile

Anyway, to OP, good luck with your project.

Thank you for your replies and I will be setting up base on ircd-ratbox with their services.

Sorry for those who feel I had a dig at unrealircd as it wernt, I was trying to throw something back into the irc life which isnt anope or unrealircd based and show that networks can exist and operate in other ways and forms which dont involve unreal or anope, heck I even maintain my own unrealircd as mentioned on a 1500 user network so I arnt completely dead agains unreal nor am i bashing anyone/network for using it.

But on another note I aint trying to become a network that is like efnet, for reasons i already mentioned I want the network or server at least to be amongst one of the very few running an almost plain vanilla yet advanced ircd.

oh i totally forgot about this thread, I didnt go through with it due to the fact being there is too many small/new networks that exist and it isn't practical to just add to those numbers. I linked the spare ip to another network.

irc.hoggeh.com if anyone is interested, its a charbydis + atheme irc network which sort of forfils my requirements of a network that isnt unrealircd and/or anope based lol.

I delinked due to 2 reasons.

1. The IRCd kept crashing, for what reason I dont know as I wasnt prepared to run a backtrace on it as a patch or fix would of taken the best part of a wait for another release.

2. The network i am a network administrator on needed another server to help balance the load a little.

It had nothing todo with hating charybdis, i think it's a good ircd imho but if you read my last post I didnt go through with this due to the fact beign there is too many networks out there, why add to that number with a small userbase when I quite happily sit and oper on a 2k user netwotk?

[Didn't I mod one of your previous posts in this topic for the same thing? The topic states ircu, ratbox or hybrid - not IRCx. -PingBad]

i run solid-ircd on meganet.us its just bahamut with hostmasking basically....and a few other things... I too am tired of everyone running Unreal. I dont need or want an ircd that will tell me when I have to go take a dump next (or if i load this module will actually take the dump for me). My network is small, but I would discuss a merge using either solid-ircd, or ircu.
