You want IRC users/channels yes?

Let's face it all of us server owners want users. Nobody has offered to compile a sort of "how-to" to accomplish that. Let's try to help each other (there are more than 1 billion people on earth anyway so I think we can stop being selfish and help each other out a bit.)
Just reply to this message with ideas you've had on getting users, methods you've used that have worked, etc... Who knows, maybe someone else is going to post something you haven't thought of.

I'll start it off I guess,
googling "Need chat" is effective, if you are patient and make sure the freshness is about 1 month or so, otherwise the posts are dead. Then you just pm/im/email the admin and tell him/her what you have to offer. You'll usually get a reply if you tailor to their needs (for example if it's a college community, college students are going to want java/php/cgi web clients not mIRC or other downloadable irc clients. Since they usually cannot download anything. A plus if you find ways around college proxies)

What have all ye my fellow server and network administrators come accross?
