|
|
I notice that ChatAutism is listed here, a network which promotes itself as a support network for those on the Autism spectrum
| Quote: | the page on searchIRC:
"ChatAutism is an autistic-friendly IRC network set up by and for people on the autistic spectrum. Anyone on the autistic spectrum is free to register a channel" |
Firstly "autistic-friendly" is not true as I have witnessed a lot of people being bullied by one of the opers of this network, Amy Nelson, even myself and someone close to me were targets of this and had no choice but to leave the network. All of the opers of this network also fail to k-line the real troublemakers that cause severe disruption to the network, which is a wholly unfriendly environment for those on the autism spectrum
Secondly "Anyone on the autistic spectrum is free to register a channel" is also inaccurate due to the bullying by Amy that takes place on an almost daily basis and of course the troublemakers that they fail to remove from the network
that's my 2 pence worth of true information on this network, as in it not promoting itself correctly
Feel free to comment |

If you are unhappy, choose a different net, complaining here will do nothing to be honest.
StarLink-IRC if I remember correctly is rather friendly to it's users regardless of what their needs are. |

| I'm merely pointing out that the listing on here doesn't reflect ChatAutism's true nature, not complaining |

One man's opinion is....well, simply that, one man's opinion. If you are disappointed in how they run their network, then let them know or find somewhere else to chat. Posting here won't really help things to be honest. If anything, it'll only make them defensive.
That said, I visited ChatAutism to see if I would experience the very things you mentioned, and well, I didn't. Perhaps I caught them on a good day? |

I posted here simply because the listing for chatautism doesn't ring true, Amy Nelson is not a nice person and is unfit to run a network, despite the fact it is done jointly with her husband Gareth, and I don't want any more autistic people suffering what I (and others) suffered so I would be grateful if whoever was in charge was to remove the listing from searchIRC, and this isn't one man's opinion, this is the opinion of several others I know, only they feel they cannot speak out and worry they will be hassled by Amy the minute she finds out
maybe another visit to chatautism, for a week maximum, at your own risk of course, will maybe make you see what really happens there, I left some months ago and I have since started up my own network using an ex chatautism server (the North Yorkshire, UK, based one) which I delinked the minute the trouble started as I didn't feel comfortable running the server for a network that promotes bullying, and I also use freenode which I had done on and off anyway, so I really wasn't lost for where to chat |

SearchIRC is a directory of networks. Once listed, the network is part of the history of IRC. For that reason we do not remove network listings. You are free to post your comments about the network in the network section or here in our forums - in fact, we encourage users to review networks and share their opinions. |

I'll follow up the comment route in that case
My comments of ChatAutism are as follows
They do NOT support anyone on the Autism Spectrum, they promote bullying, the opers do not remove troublemakers, Amy Nelson (nick: Amy) only listens to one side of all stories and rants on about what she has been told by other troublemakers, also she k-lines people for no reason and thinks the client irssi is actually a malicious bot even when proof that it isn't is placed right in front of her
I was once an oper of that network but soon delinked and deleted the ircd when the troubles started, I now happily run my own network for those on the autism spectrum (although I don't own the domain for it, someone else owns that for me) and intend it to be a safe place in contrast to chatautism
those are my comments |

It happens quite often on many IRC networks. It's hard to find a network without bullies anymore. Their are many people who haven't heard of /ignore. It's invented so you can ignore the bullies. I love to tell people about it. |

| yes, but /ignore isn't always ideal if you have idiots that will cut/paste what the bullies have said once they are on ignore |

| Sounds like nothing more then a bitch fest, it doesn't matter where you go, theres going to be atleast one person whos always going to ruin the fun. IRC is mostly just kids now-a-days or immateur old farts, what more can you expect? |
