Not to be an ass, but sometimes I do look at other networks just to see what they are running, etc.

1. Warez and other nasty things give IRC a bad name.
2. Given organisations such as RIAA are suing people left and right, I'd think twice before advertising, let alone running, a warez network. :)

IRC was made to chat on, then file sending was for ppl to send the occasional file to each other, it wasnt made for transferring pirated software

I really dont care if you run a warez network, but I would prefer to go on a network with more people that chat and less warez.. perhaps mode +s in warez rooms, and limit the warez to one server on the network incase it gets attacked, then other users will still be able to go to their chatrooms

..disable /links and /map whatever that reveals server names so you can cut down on the amount of attacks

Well, I'm not declaring my network or any network a warez network, but its funny how we can make up acronyms to put them down. Ok, so maybe warez wasn't what the original IRC people had in mind, but its here, and until the RIAA does take some significant action to scare networks into not allowing such activity, its not going to go away.

However, anyone can invent an acronym, in which case, I have one of my own:

JALCNWNU.

As to the definition, well, I'll just keep that to myself and use it as needed to express my opinion Smile

Sid-very close, change "chat" to "chat-only" and you have it.

As for those who feel that I allow warez as well as chat "defacing" my network-very well, I'm proud to be defaced. I'm also proud to not have to censor users....they are responsible for their own actions.

I have to thank all of you 'chat only' people for putting down warez on here-by doing so, I have gained users Smile

And actually, they wern't warez people at all-just people who felt that if a network was enforcing a chat only rule, that they would be joining channels that may be viewed as possibly warez and being spied upon. They know on my network they can form a channel, and by virtue of my acceptable use policy, I won't be spying on them-they are simply responsible for all channel occurances as I have outlined.

So thank you all very much, and keep it up-its helping me out greatly Smile

I'm gaining normal channels because of your insistance to monitor channels for warez Smile
