Doing a little copy/paste from globalgamerscenter.net:
| Quote: | It's the moment we've all been waiting for! On November 11, 2006, Global Gamers Center will officially launch the network! We have spent months developing and testing code, putting together an amazing staff, and laying out a roadmap for our future. Join us on 11/11 for the unveiling of some new features as well as several hours of events with prizes going out to many lucky participants. The events include:
A GGC scavenger hunt
An IRC-based Uno match
A game-based trivia contest
An IdleRPG competition
A TetriNET tournament (TetriNET is a free, online, multiplayer Tetris game.)
We are offering prize packs to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each event, since that makes shipping long distances much more worthwhile. Each prize pack will include the winner's choice of a game, along with a few other goodies. Winners can choose from new copies of PREY (PC or X-Box), Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion (PC), Battlefield 2142 (PC), Okami (Playstation 2), and more! For those who don't need another game to feed their addiction, the game can be swapped out for various other prizes of equal (or greater!) value, such as sets of programming books, a set of roleplaying books, or DVD box sets. Choices are always good.
For clans who would like to get involved, we will also be hosting a UT2004 tournament! The winning clan will receive a dedicated TS server for six months. Keep checking this page for instructions and what will be required for entry!
The festivities will run from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM Eastern (10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Pacific, or 18:00 to 00:00 GMT) and will be based out of #home on irc.globalgamerscenter.net. Other activities will also be available for spectators. We look forward to seeing you there!
Note: If any shoutcast stations are interested in covering the event, we will be holding a fun contest for all stations that participate! Email buttaknife@globalgamerscenter.net for more details on how to enter and what prizes will be available to you. |
